Correo Mas Rapido, Senor!

Friday morning I was working about 1/10 mile from my house on one of Jason's alfalfa pivots. My mom was gone, Papa was gone. I was working away when I realized a helicopter was flying overhead. Cool, no big deal. Then it was circling overhead. Hmm. Then I realized it was green and white---Border Patrol. Hey now... Then it was LANDING in the pivot RIGHT next to my house! I hopped in the pickup and drove home so quick, and by the time I drove by the house (no way was I stopping!) a BP agent was marching across the field with 7 illegals in tow! After running down to Nina's to make sure she was okay, I went back down to the house where about 4 BP vehicles had gathered. One of the agents told me that a truck of illegals had passed a BP about 10 miles from our house, and then started speeding away. The BPs had then clocked the truck going 110 mph! For some reason, the driver of the truck thought he could drive right by our house to get away...and after going through 1 wire of electric fence, they got a bit tangled in the midst of the trailers/chili boxes/random panels out back of the Barnard menagerie, so they parked the truck, jumped ship, and ran right into the field where the helicopter dudes got them! The funny thing (and I say this as someone who has been gotten many times) is that the illegals totally had to have been "gotten" by the electric fence as they ran:) Needless to say, it was crazy for a bit...And it ensured that I will totally return to my pre-twenties habit of not going outside to feed in the dark by myself:)

Also, for my fellow "Barnard Weight Loss Challengers" I made peanut butter cookies tonight: 1 cup splenda, 1 cup peanut butter, and 1 egg. Let me tell ya---MMMMMM! I feel compelled though, to recommend that you NOT use the Splenda from the little packets. All I had was the little packets, but 1 cup did not sound like much...until I began tearing packet by packet and emptying it into the bottomless bucket (or cup measure). Approximately 140 (but whose counting?) packets later, I had my cup of Splenda. Perhaps it was a bit of workout to make the cookie ok to eat? I added Splenda in the bulk form to my grocery list.

The weekend also included fun time with Erin at the Tucson rodeo and lunch with Nicolette and kiddoes and Shaye and kiddo...I am entirely too lucky to have such wonderful friends!

Bible Verse:
Psalm 23:1-3
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.

I don't know if your story conveys how you live in the middle of NOWHERE! I mean honestly, if you had only lived there you would not even know what a helicopter is! It is beyond unimaginable that one would land in your backyard!

Yea for the yummy cookies! That is Mema's recipe for peanut butter cookies. You can also put a teaspoon of vanilla in there for a little extra kick... We had yummy strawberry shortcakes with sf angel food cake last night. Tear it up!
